The player takes on the role of a young journalist fulfilling the last wishes of a deceased researcher and embarking on a mission across the globe. The destination is the forgotten Latin American country of Amerzon, a place where outsiders rarely set foot.
The key objective is to find and preserve the last known egg of the legendary birds, considered essential to the future of the region. These birds, according to local legends, are inextricably linked with the fate of their isolated homeland. The world of Amerzone - The Explorer’s Legacy is a land with distinctive flora and fauna, as well as clear traces of the long, brutal dictatorship mentioned in its past.
Progress in this game will require the gamer to use observation skills while carefully studying specific locations and understanding the difficult past of the region through the evidence found. Solving puzzles built into the environment and discovering objects provide the necessary information to develop the plot.
