Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist and the White Guardian takes place in Halfain, a city recovering years after its inhabitants mysteriously disappeared. The two main characters, Rias and Slade, return to their homelands with different goals. The girl wants to reopen her grandfather’s shop, and the boy wants to find out more about the things his father left him. Together they try to uncover the mystery of what happened, while simultaneously working on the revival of the settlement.

The further development of the plot directly depends on the success in restoring Khalfain, which closely connects the personal motives of the characters with the overall task. The gameplay in Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist and the White Guardian is based on exploring the Lantarna continent in search of materials. Gamers will have to switch between two protagonists, using their unique abilities in a world with dynamic changes in weather and time of day. The title features procedurally generated dungeons called Dimensional Paths, where the layout and enemies change with each visit.

Battles take place in a turn-based timeline, and a squad of six fighters placed in the front and back rows can perform coordinated moves like Link Attacks and Item Mixing. Synthesis is a key mechanic of the game, allowing you to create things by adding ingredients to recipes. The characteristics of the created item depend on the Gift Colors of its components. New crafting patterns are unlocked through experimentation, and special slots make it possible to use additional materials to improve the effects. Manufactured goods are sold in the shop, and the profit received goes to the development of Halfain.
