Game Description Constance is about creative burnout and the struggle with inner demons, embodied in an action-platformer format. The main character, an artist named Constance, finds herself trapped in a colorful but fading inner world. Armed with a brush, she must confront her own fears and mental blocks, which have taken the form of hostile creatures and mysterious characters that reflect aspects of her psyche. The key mechanic that determines the gameplay is the Corruption system. Using special moves, such as dodges or powerful attacks, uses up the magic brush’s paint supply. When the reservoir is empty, Constance enters a corrupted state, where abilities continue to work, but begin to rapidly drain health. This mechanism forces you to carefully weigh every action in battle, adding tactical depth to battles. Moving through non-linear, interconnected levels is particularly fluid thanks to the heroine’s ability to momentarily turn into a puddle of paint, slipping past enemies and obstacles. In addition, a special dash allows her to dash through opponents, opening up new paths to explore. Even death offers tactical choices: you can return to your last save point or spend Jet crystals to respawn near where you died. The visual style of the project is made using detailed hand-painting, creating a deep and lively atmosphere. The environments are filled with melancholic beauty, and every corner of the world is carefully crafted. An interesting solution is the contrast between the brighter, almost cartoonish heroine and the muted tones of the world, which emphasizes her aloofness.
