Crisol: Theater of Idols is a first-person game set in Hispania, an alternate depiction of Spain with its own folklore. Players take on the role of Gabriel, a soldier on a mission from the Sun God who travels to the island of Tormentos. The core mechanic of the gameplay is that Gabriel uses his own blood to power his abilities and fire. This substance serves as both ammunition and life force for him, so each attack directly reduces his health, creating a constant risk.
The narrative of Crisol: Theater of Idols unfolds as the gamer navigates the island’s locations, from ruins to labyrinthine streets. The main task is to uncover the secrets of Tormentosa, learning the history associated with the cults and rituals of sacrifice. In the process of this research, you will have to engage in battle with opponents, among whom there are statues animated by supernatural power. Further progress in the plot depends on solving riddles that block the path and reveal new details of the story.
Gabriel’s survival depends on improving his skills through the leveling system. Pumped up skills allow blood to become a more effective weapon, which increases damage done and gives advantages in battle. In addition to these skills, the player will have to find and upgrade various standard weapons using coins found on the island. Success in this action game requires constant tactical planning as you must decide when to expend your own life energy to gain the upper hand.
