Dark Moon is about a near and bleak future. This time, things have become very bad for humanity, not thanks to aliens or nuclear war, but because of the Sun. A storm is raging on the star, which has disabled all equipment on Earth and provoked unrest there. On the Moon, things are even worse: the sun’s rays destroy any objects on the earth’s satellite that they manage to reach.
In Dark Moon, gamers control a group of astronaut explorers. People need to survive and restore contact with their home planet. In this real-time strategy game you have to hide from dangerous natural light in the dark. Therefore, users have a mobile base. Initially, users receive several survivors and a giant Mechaplex moon rover. You can build buildings on its roof. It is allowed to redistribute energy and personnel within buildings. Drones are used to extract resources and conduct field reconnaissance. Found minerals are needed to improve the moving station.
Players periodically encounter other survivors. They can be taken on board a huge arachnid transport or abandoned to their fate. Each person has valuable skills, but takes up scarce space and requires food. In addition, there is always the possibility of betrayal. The crew can judge or support gamers' decisions, as well as have positive or negative attitudes toward specific crew members. Tensions often rise between astronauts.
