Game Description
Dead Format is an experimental survival horror game that immerses you in nightmarish worlds inspired by various eras of cinema. The project offers a unique combination of gameplay and live action scenes recorded on videotape, which effectively blurs the line between fiction and reality. The protagonist will have to explore the contents of mysterious GHL format cassettes, each of which opens a portal to a separate universe with its own rules and dangers. The events take place in Scotland in the 90s, where the main character begins a desperate search for his brother, who disappeared after becoming fascinated by mysterious recordings. The situation is aggravated by rumors of a government ban on these films, known as Video Nasties.
The only safe place is the character’s apartment, which serves as a center for analyzing evidence and preparing for attacks. This is where the TV for playing tapes is located, and only in this shelter is the function of saving progress available. Inside each world, you need to search for supplies for survival and solve puzzles in order to unlock further progress. The Dead Format arsenal consists of weapons and tools that are stylistically appropriate to the cinematic era in which the hero finds himself. Each universe is filled with unique enemies, challenges and powerful bosses.
