Game Description
Deck of Haunts puts the player in control of a sentient structure that functions as a haunted abode. The main challenge is to attract curious people to its pre-planned premises. Once these individuals are inside, the player influences the environment and initiates certain incidents in order to systematically undermine the peace of mind of the visitors. This allows the essence of the house to absorb the energy they release to increase their size and spread influence in the surrounding area.
The entire process requires strategic planning in the construction of the mansion itself, optimizing its layout to facilitate the capture of visitors and further influence on them. Gameplay in Deck of Haunts is divided into building design phases and active intimidation phases. First you have to carefully think through the layout of the mansion, arranging rooms and possible traps in such a way as to create a winding and confusing route for uninvited guests.
Having completed preparations, the house lures adventurers inside, where they must use cards from their deck. These cards trigger various events: sudden appearances, frightening sounds, or changes in the environment in the corridors. The main task at this stage is to constantly increase psychological pressure on the victims, driving them to madness, while simultaneously protecting the vulnerable center of the mansion, the Heart Room, from discovery or destruction. Successfully eliminating or driving people crazy brings the necessary energy resource, which goes towards expanding the structure itself and increasing its notoriety, attracting new targets.
