Double Dragon Revive is a revival of the classic series in modern 3D, where the combat system goes beyond just beating up your opponents. The outcome of the fight now depends on the ability to parry blows by performing the stunning technique Critical Assault, and on the competent use of the environment. The heroes will not only have to use their fists, but also use weapons scattered throughout the levels, from knives to hammers, and also use interactive elements of locations to gain a tactical advantage.
Collecting Dragon Ball meter unlocks a devastating Finishing Blow that can deal massive damage to all nearby enemies. The action takes place 15 years after a devastating nuclear war, in a world where the surviving remnants of humanity live in colonies. One of these settlements is controlled by a brutal gang called the Shadow Warriors, which has established its own rules and widened the gap between rich and poor. It is in this dark setting that the story of brothers Billy and Jimmy Lee, masters of the Sosetsuken fighting style, begins.
DOUBLE DRAGON REVIVE’s plot revolves around confronting a crime syndicate when the brothers' dojo comes under threat and their childhood friend Marian is kidnapped. In addition to the familiar protagonists, other characters will appear in the story. Players will face both returning enemies, including boss Willie, and new faces, such as a character named Marcus. The project offers not only a story campaign for single or co-op, but also additional modes. For example, in Survival mode you can fight endless waves of enemies, while in Arcade mode you can complete the entire game with a limited number of attempts, which is a tribute to the classic slot machines.
