Dreamcore Retro is a mental challenge set in psychedelic worlds inspired by the concepts of lucid dreaming and liminal spaces. The project immerses you in a state where the line between sleep and reality is blurred, forcing you to doubt the reality of what is happening. The visual design, in a low-poly style with obvious references to the PSX era, enhances the feeling of an interactive fever dream. This unusual journey through the recesses of the subconscious is accompanied by an intense soundtrack that perfectly complements the overall picture of disturbing unpredictability and surrealism.
The main gameplay consists of exploring minimalistic, but at the same time fascinating locations filled with abstract images. The absence of obvious enemies or scary moments shifts the focus to a meditative exploration of the environment. As they progress through Dreamcore Retro, gamers will be faced with reflections on the topic of endangered species and potential social problems of the future society. The project skillfully combines elements of a walking simulator with platforming, requiring the player not only to pay attention to detail, but also good spatial thinking to further move through strange worlds.
