Funguys Swarm places the fighter in a burning forest to confront the Fire King’s army using forest weapons and unusual abilities. There is a variety of heroes to choose from, each with unique skills for different combat approaches. The player’s main goal is to withstand continuous attacks from fiery minions and mutated vegetables, whose intensity increases over time. Survival in the top-down arena requires constant maneuvering and timely elimination of these threats.

In Funguys Swarm, progression through the race is achieved by obtaining numerous upgrades that add up to chaotic combinations of power. These bonuses gradually transform the chosen forest dweller into a formidable opponent for the ever-growing swarm. Periodically, waves of enemies are interrupted by the appearance of a large, unpredictable boss, presenting a serious challenge. At the end of each biome, a larger enemy awaits, testing the accumulated power of the protagonist and complicating the gameplay.

In between battles, the gamer develops a central location known as the Forest Sanctuary. Rescued creatures contribute to the development of the place, providing access to permanent buffs for future sessions. This game also includes a meta-progression system that allows you to gradually unlock new characters, pets, special skills, and mech suits. These improvements provide long-term advantage by impacting starting capabilities and strategic options at the start of each new run.
