Hopeless Sea imagines a world submerged after climate catastrophe melts the polar ice caps. A sea level rise of more than 50 meters has rendered 90 of the planet’s coastal cities uninhabitable, forcing survivors to move inland to escape powerful storms. Soon, a new threat emerged from the ocean depths - mutated aggressive sea creatures that began to attack the last strongholds of people.

To save civilization, a final mission is sent to the sea to find the source of the creatures and eliminate the root cause of the disaster. Each voyage in Hopeless Sea becomes a unique encounter, as enemy squads are procedurally generated for each voyage. Navigating a ship amidst these dangers requires constant maneuvering to survive the onslaught of sea monsters. A single mistake in piloting can lead to the death of the ship and the irrevocable end of the current expedition.

Progress in the game depends on resources obtained from defeated monsters, which are then exchanged for weapons and upgrades on the black market. The player begins a sortie by choosing a commander and a specific corps, which determines the game style for the entire campaign. Throughout the mission, the decisions made allow you to improve the parameters and capabilities of the vessel. Boss fights move the plot forward, revealing details of the Flood story. These elite creatures and their hordes attack with precision, making survival a constant test of skill.
