Game Description
Horses is an immersion in a surreal reality, the oppressive atmosphere of which is created through silent film stylization, inserts with live actors and a disturbing soundtrack. The central figure of the story is the young man Anselmo, who arrived at a secluded farm to undergo a two-week internship. From the very beginning, his stay is subject to a strict schedule established by the owner of the property. The entire project is a first-person narrative adventure, with interactive episodes interspersed with video segments.
The main secret of this place soon becomes apparent: enslaved people wearing rubber masks are kept here as horses. The owner of the farm, called the Farmer, entrusts the hero of Horses with various tasks that become more sinister over time. Interactions with this character and the silent prisoners become the basis for exploring themes of submission and complicity in the ensuing madness. The plot unfolds over 14 days, each of which brings new details to the overall picture of what is happening.
The gameplay is based on the cyclical execution of daily assignments. Initially, the protagonist’s responsibilities are limited to routine agricultural work, such as watering crops or caring for animals. However, with each new day, the absurdity and cruelty of the assignments increases, forcing the character to move from harmless affairs to participation in beatings and burials. Thus, the narrative systematically plunges into a state of increasing discomfort and moral dilemma, testing the boundaries of obedience.
