Game Description
Hymer 2000 plunges into a melancholy and philosophical story, where a mundane task of disposing of an outdated artificial intelligence module turns into a deep investigation for technician Frank. He is sent to a mysterious residential complex called Hope Residence with the goal of carrying out a complete shutdown of the system named Hymer. However, upon arrival, he is confronted with digital fragments of other people’s memories, mysterious images and long-buried secrets. What begins as a routine task quickly turns into an introspective journey in which the boundaries between human perception and machine logic become extremely blurred.
All interaction with the world occurs through an interface that completely imitates the operating system. Instead of choosing from ready-made lines, free text input is used to communicate with artificial intelligence and advance through the plot. The gameplay of Hymer 2000 is based on an open search function that allows you to analyze any found correspondence logs using keywords. Thus, gradually collecting digital evidence and clues, the gamer uncovers a complex narrative hidden in the depths of the system archives and dialogues that Hymer had with previous users.
Adding coherence to the story are 80 unique illustrations depicting pareidolic faces—ambiguous images found in random objects. They symbolize the instability of reality and the subjectivity of perception. The built-in algorithmic mini-problems, including Particle and Note, add variety to the research process. Each detail serves one purpose - to reveal the main secret that Hymer keeps before his final shutdown, and to understand the nature of his digital consciousness.
