Little Aviary is a meditative collecting simulator where the main goal is to create the perfect aviary for dozens of bird species. The process of replenishing the collection involves breeding over 40 species of birds, each of which has many unique color variations. The project is conceived as a background companion for the desktop, allowing you to observe the life of your pets without being distracted from other tasks. The game window is easily customizable: it can be moved around the entire screen and scaled so that it does not create clutter. Feathered friends fly independently within the visible area and can land on the upper borders of active windows of other programs. Each discovered individual is accompanied by interesting facts from real life.
The economic model is based on breeding the most valuable individuals in order to obtain maximum profit from their subsequent sale. Little Aviary uses proceeds to purchase new eggs for incubation and a variety of decorative items, including trees and birdhouses. These items serve not only as decoration, but also as a place for birds to gather and rest. Gradual development opens up access to new themed areas, such as the beach, which provide bonuses for certain types of birds.
