Maiden and Spell is a scrolling shooter in which the main characters are girls. The user is given a choice of 8 female characters, which differ from each other not only in appearance, but also in their ability sets. The fictional universe created by indie developers is filled with magic and unusual creatures. The setting is the Kingdom of Stars, which is represented by many locations in the background, because the game has a top-down camera. Support for gamepads from different manufacturers has been implemented, which will be really useful when playing cooperatively on one personal computer, because the project implements modes for passing tests together and for battles among themselves.

The fantasy story takes place near the edge of the universe. Local residents call this territory the Great Circle, because the unknown Abyss begins there. It is here that a group of brave girls decide to go in pursuit of a mystical treasure that has great power. During the adventure, the player will have to destroy a huge number of a wide variety of monsters attacking from all sides. The combat system is made in the “bullet hell” style, the gamer needs to dodge an endless barrage of projectiles flying at the protagonist’s model, which consists of 3 pixels due to the minimalistic visual design.
