Game Description
Mosaic of The Pharaohs is a large-scale canvas dedicated to Egyptology, which opens gradually, with each solved fragment. Completing the next section of a huge mosaic not only reveals on the canvas part of the overall picture, be it a tomb or a scene from the life of the pharaohs, but also opens up access to historical information. By clicking on the finished area, you can read several paragraphs of text that reveal the context and meaning of the depicted object. As certain milestones are reached, the room where the piece is located becomes filled with treasures, gold, and artifacts. After 100% completion of the entire image, access to a meta-riddle opens up, to solve which you will need to interact with various elements of the finished picture.
The gameplay is based on a hybrid of minesweeper and Japanese crossword puzzles, requiring the gamer to use logical thinking to fill in the empty cells according to digital clues. The entire experience in Mosaic of The Pharaohs is built around one giant image, divided into many regions of different sizes. Some scenes take up several of these areas, while others consist of just a couple of squares. By gradually solving puzzles, the player discovers detailed pixel sketches dedicated to tools, natural wonders and outstanding personalities. For those who have difficulty finding a starting point in a difficult region, a hint system is provided that highlights the desired sector.
The visual style of the project ranges from elaborate scenes to schematic depictions of historical figures such as Euclid or Napoleon Bonaparte, presented as simplified figures. The narrative focuses on topics such as Pharaoh Akhenaten and the city of Akhetaten he founded. The relaxing atmosphere is facilitated by the special glow of the tiles, creating the effect of sun rays breaking through the walls of an ancient temple, and the sound of clicks when filling the cells adds a meditative quality to the process.
