My Wife Threw Out My Card Collection (So I Bought a Dump to Find Them All) tells the story of a curious and desperate undertaking to recover a missing collection, which unfolds among the garbage heaps. A spouse deprived of fate falls under the control of the player, who will have to sift through tons of rubbish at a personally acquired training ground. The main task is to discover valuable cards with pictures of funny creatures, for which you have to clear unstable piles of rotting garbage using a special bag. All other found items, from game consoles to flash drives with cryptocurrency, can be sold through a storage room in the garage.
The restoration of the character’s vital energy directly depends on the consumption of beer, which is purchased from a special machine, since any activity depletes his strength. Upgrades designed to streamline this monotonous process are ordered via a personal computer in the garage workshop. So, you can expand the volume of bags or enhance the invigorating effect of each jar. The crown of absurdity is the possibility of buying a dog along with a kennel, the functional purpose of which remains a complete secret to the player.
Despite the dramatic beginning, the gameplay leans towards a measured simulation of land clearing. In addition to hunting for cards, there is the opportunity to help birds caught in a garbage trap, which is rewarded with karma points. Watching a mountain of junk gradually melt away provides a unique but very real feeling of deep satisfaction. As a result, an inherently comical story about the hardships of a collector turns into a peaceful experience, where there is a place for both the excitement of the treasure hunter and the manifestation of concern for nature.
