Game Description

Ostalgie: The Berlin Wall is a political simulator that allows you to feel like the ruler of one of the socialist countries, such as East Germany, Romania, Poland and Bulgaria. The player’s main task is to survive until 1992.

Each country has a set of problems and is driven by an individual goal. For example, the GDR wants to unite with West Germany, Romania wants to become a European version of North Korea, Bulgaria is determined to overthrow its ruler Zhivkov, and the Poles need to give a helping hand to General Jaruzelski. At the same time, nothing prevents you from going against the citizens of your country. The gameplay takes place in real time with the ability to use a tactical pause. This distinguishes it from its ancestor Crisis in the Kremlin, which was based solely on turn-based mechanics. Ostalgie: The Berlin Wall provides:

develop strategy and build domestic and foreign policy; introduce reforms and build new formations of socialism; conduct research and build buildings; fight in vestalgia and bring the state to a more capitalist way of life; manipulates elections, bribes officials, engages in propaganda; manage the budget, trade with other countries or do not entirely legal things to obtain more securities.

Upon the onset of 1992 and having successfully avoided party coups, popular uprisings, and not allowing NATO or USSR troops into their lands, the game will helpfully offer to continue the campaign further, or to see how the power has changed as a result of the player’s actions.
