River City Girls is a beat-em-up, stylized as an anime, where the player will go through an adventure with the girls Kyoko and Misako, who will go to the dangerous streets of River City to find their missing friends Kunio and Riki. Girls have charisma, constantly joke, communicate with each other, remember moments from the lives of their boyfriends, etc.
The gameplay is not quite the usual beat-em-up. River City Girls has an open world with many forks, fast travel points and a full map. There are also metroidvania elements, when access to some locations opens after a while. The heroines' abilities gradually increase. At first, two types of strikes are available - light and heavy. As you progress through the game, experience points accumulate, which increase the heroines' levels. The parameters of strength, dexterity and luck apply. Various combo attacks become available, the variety of which becomes more and more varied over time.
The local dojo teaches techniques such as punches, kicks, uppercuts, kicks and bomb jumps. At certain moments you can call allies. The gameplay feature is recruitment. When there is only one undefeated enemy left, he can ask for mercy. If you don’t kill him, he joins the girls' team. You can get many accessories in stores or during the game: makeup kits, false eyelashes, bras and various jewelry. They do not affect the appearance, but they provide certain bonuses. The campaign will feature 6 bosses, the battle with which is divided into phases that require an individual approach and new tactics. And all this is accompanied by a dynamic synth-pop soundtrack from Chipzel, Christina V and NateWantsToBattle.
