Game Description
Sandwalkers is a roguelike focused on step-by-step exploration of dangerous lands. The Mka tribe periodically sends troops into Fiti, a weather anomaly that divides the Uwando tribes and makes it difficult to survive outside of safe zones. The goals of such expeditions are to establish diplomatic contacts, explore and mark territories captured by monsters and pirates, and grow a new tree city as a refuge. Successful completion of the task requires the caravans to send the collected information back through the crystospheres carried by the beetles.
Gamers lead expeditions through varied landscapes in Sandwalkers. The journey involves encounters with pirates, sorcerers and monsters, along with the need to cope with natural threats such as acid rain, storms and heat waves. In this desolate environment, the caravan members rely on their dedication to the task to avoid death. The information accumulated during campaigns helps the following groups, forming the basis for game progress.
Character selection affects gameplay; heroes have unique abilities, unlocking different strategies, such as exploring ruins or tracking down large creatures. The player’s decisions during forays directly determine the conditions for future attempts. Weather is an important factor, affecting the speed of movement across the map and the outcome of clashes with enemies. The main goal is to restore the disturbed climate, which promises to end the tribe’s long wanderings.
