SEMI – Side Effects May Include is a cooperative action game for 1-4 players, in which the main goal is to escape from a special hospital. Experimental drugs are the main tool for survival and at the same time a source of chaos. After taking the pill, the patient gains superpowers, but along with them, completely unpredictable side effects. Well-coordinated teamwork becomes the key to success, because at any moment the situation can get out of control. To coordinate actions and organize sabotage, voice chat is provided, which helps you navigate rooms and fight opponents.
Escape is complicated by the random generation of levels consisting of rooms with changing gravity, traps and moving walls. The gameplay in SEMI – Side Effects May Include forces you to constantly adapt to new conditions. For example, Alice syndrome can turn a character into a giant or a tiny person, and bipolar disorder can turn a character into an invulnerable monster who becomes helpless moments later. The overall madness scale threatens to take away control of the avatar at any moment, turning the ally into an uncontrollable threat to the entire group.
Each escape attempt, regardless of its outcome, ends with the issuance of a personal medical report. It contains a unique diagnosis, such as hyperactivity, reflecting the passing style. Successfully completing challenges unlocks new costumes and decorations, allowing you to make your next race more stylish. In this project, abilities are a real lottery, and the most dangerous opponent is often on their own team, which requires the participants to have maximum concentration and readiness for any surprises.
