Game Description

SGS Battle For Shanghai is a recreation of the battles of the Second Sino-Japanese War, called Stalingrad on the Yangtze. The conflict is taking place in urban areas and on the outskirts of China’s largest port city. Each cell on the map becomes an arena for fierce clashes, where units of different sizes are under command, from regiments to individual battalions.

The fighting covers the period from August to November 1937, with each move in the project corresponding to two days of real time. Commanding troops requires careful planning, since not all units can be deployed at the same time. The opposing sides are pursuing diametrically opposed goals. Chinese troops are trying to recapture the captured areas and attract the attention of the world community to the ongoing conflict.

Japanese forces, in turn, need to hold their initial positions for a subsequent full-scale counteroffensive. In the tactical confrontation of SGS Battle For: Shanghai, not only ground forces, including infantry, armored vehicles and artillery, play an important role, but also auxiliary air and river units. The unique unit activation system introduces an element of uncertainty, forcing you to adapt your strategy to the constantly changing conditions on the battlefield.

The outcome of battles largely depends on the competent use of special cards that can change the balance of power at a decisive moment. Unit morale is a key factor, influenced by fatigue, panic or, conversely, strengthened by air dominance and armor support. Successful conduct of hostilities allows not only to destroy enemy formations, but also to force them to retreat, seizing control over strategically important territories of the destroyed city.
