Volkolak: The Will of Gods is a side-scrolling action adventure set in a vast, interconnected world inspired by Slavic fantasy. The main character travels through the Far Far Away Kingdom, medieval lands struck by the ominous curse of the necromancer Koshchei the Immortal. This curse drives its inhabitants mad, turning them into evil creatures. Gameplay revolves around facing off against these minions through a deep combat system and exploring a hand-drawn 2D world with many secrets and multiple ending options.

The gameplay of Volkolak: The Will of Gods is built around the mechanics of becoming a werewolf - a transformation that forms the basis for three different development paths. The player can choose the path of a bloodthirsty ghoul, curb his instincts with the help of magic in the role of Wolfclaw, or choose the path of a holy warrior-Bogatyr. Each class unlocks unique NPCs and story-based adventures. The choices made ultimately drive the narrative toward one of several endings, determining the protagonist’s fate as a hero, a monster, or a creature of darkness.

This game offers a large world for exploration with locations like the dungeons of Constantinople and the Dark Forest. These lands are inhabited by more than 50 unique enemies and 15 mythical bosses based on Slavic folklore, including Leshy and Baba Yaga. Mastering new abilities opens up access to secret places. The human form allows you to equip a variety of weapons and armor, while the werewolf form allows you to receive powers from the altars of the pagan gods and communicate with certain mythical creatures to gain valuable information
