Wartales is an open-world role-playing adventure that lets you lead your team of mercenaries on a treasure hunt. Events take place in a medieval fantasy world. You need to travel across continents, recruit party members, explore ancient tombs and collect rewards. The plot begins with the fall of the great Edoran Empire. The kingdom is engulfed in a plague, killing every living thing in its path. In connection with this, banditry, theft, murder and looting increased.
You have to take control of an unprincipled hero who decides to take advantage of the turmoil in the world to enrich himself. However, to do this, he will need to find allies to help him find the treasure. Game mechanics of Wartales contain survival elements. Together with your partners, you will need to go down into abandoned mines and mystical dungeons, and visit different cities and camps. The combat is represented by a complex turn-based system. The enemies are wild animals, bandits, mercenaries, murderers and other opponents.
Each ally has his own unique abilities, specialization and battle tactics. All partners prefer an individual type of weapon and are also subject to leveling. Traveling around the world, you need to take contracts to protect and liberate villages, or carry out orders to kill people. You can improve the equipment of the entire team and your hero. By collecting useful resources, you can craft weapons, tools and equipment. You will also need to set up your own personal camp.
