Game Description
Wartorn follows the journey of sisters Yara and Elani, who have been exiled from their home and must traverse a world riven by conflict. They lead a caravan through the Talaura Islands, seeking safety in their ancestral fortress, Beinun. The expedition involves controlling a squad of fantastic creatures in numerous battles in real time. Along the way, they must also find lost relatives to piece together their story. The player’s actions determine the survival of this group in a hostile environment.
The combat system in Wartorn is based on the interaction of the elements: fire, water, resin, plants and lightning with the environment and fighters. Water extinguishes fire but also conducts electricity to wet targets, while resin can be ignited to intensify the flame. She can also heal creatures of plant origin. Players build their forces by recruiting squads of goblins, elves and demons, each of which opens up new tactical options with unique abilities.
The combination of these warriors, their placement on the battlefield and the skillful application of their skills determine the outcome of each battle. Each playthrough offers new variables thanks to unpredictable situations and random story events on the world map. Branching paths force you to make choices that could lead to helping the caravan or its destruction. The player needs to manage critical resources such as food and hope - an indicator that decreases with losses in battle. If the spirit of the party fades, the journey will end. Finding family members grants heirlooms that unlock permanent benefits for all future runs.
