Game Description
Wool at the Gates presents a tactical defense experience. This project combines base defense mechanics, auto-battler-style synergy elements, and hero character control. User takes on the role of commander, leading the allied forces and building defenses for the city. This structure creates a cycle involving strategic preparation and subsequent combat engagements against advancing swarms of sheep.
The gameplay unfolds in stages, the complexity of which increases. Each stage in Wool at the Gates consists of a construction phase and a subsequent battle against enemy formations. Strategic decisions involve balancing between different building types and the use of faction talent trees. The combination of units activates synergy effects similar to auto-battlers, which manifest themselves during combat skirmishes.
Structures such as towers, walls, and resource buildings provide economic development and defense for the city. Constructing buildings for the Human, Orc or Elf factions unlocks unique benefits through talent trees. Planning of tactics and troop dispositions occurs before the start of each wave, progressing through a series of increasingly difficult rounds. Real-time battles involve using the hero’s abilities and optimizing the position of the units to hold the line against the onslaught of the sheep forces.
